Teaching

Dr. Snider was on faculty for 40 years until she retired in 2014. She continues to teach part-time in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner DNP program.  Dr. Snider served as associate professor and chair of the Department of Health Care Environments and Systems, and has taught more than 6,000 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students in her 46 years at the University of Florida College of Nursing. At the time of her retirement, she taught in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as directed the undergraduate Honors Program. Dr. Snider has made major contributions to the college’s educational mission. Beginning as a graduate assistant and progressing to associate professor, Dr. Snider has taught across all levels of the curriculum (BSN, MSN, DNP, PhD) and has been recognized year after year by students and colleagues for her effective and innovative teaching. On 16 separate years, undergraduate students have voted Dr. Snider as “Outstanding Faculty Member” and Dr. Snider received five “Teacher of the Year” awards. 

Clinical practice area/expertise

Dr. Snider’s area of expertise is ethics, nursing education and psychiatric nursing.

Education

Dr. Snider received her diploma in Nursing from Samford University via Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and her BSN in Nursing from the University of Alabama. She received her Master’s in psychiatric/mental health nursing, an Ed.S. in curriculum and instruction and an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction, all from the University of Florida.
